January Favorites

Happy February everyone! Now that January is over all I can think about is that we are one more step closer to spring. Thankfully. The cold and I do not get along. I want to share some of my January favorites. I discovered quite a few new items this month. I also worked in a few of my all time favorites.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream: This is one of the best things I tried this month. My skin absolutely loves it. I have come to the realization that my oily skin is actually dehydrated and really needs to be moisturized and not starved. This is great and has almost a matte finish after putting it on the the skin. It does not make you ultra shinny like a normal moisturizer does.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Concealer - Man that is a long name but this concealer works. It covers up my dark circles and does not crease through out the day. If you are unsure look this concealer up on Youtube and you will find a million reviews. This is my second tube.

Maybelline Dream Wonder foundation: I realized later last year that I was over having a full coverage foundation. I still like coverage but I was hating the way that after a few hours my foundation would look. Also I wanted something a little less matte. This foundation was definitely my answer. While I do need a powder to set the foundation and I hate the bottle design the product is great and this is my second bottle.

Loreal Infalliable Pro- Matte foundation: This might seem like a conundrum to you after reading about the Dream Wonder Foundation. However, even though this says it is a Pro-Matte foundation I would call it more of a satin finish. I decided to try this after I saw the display in my local CVS. I went home and watched a few reviews on Youtube and decided to give it a go. I did end up buying two tubes of this because the first tube was just to dark for me right now. It should be the perfect color for me in the summer though. I love this foundation and it has replaced the Dream Wonder as my everyday foundation. I still love both but for now this one i it. I love the medium coverage. Also I have realized that it actually looks better at the end of the day when I have not set it with my Rimmel Stay matte powder.

Simple Micellar Water: I discovered this about halfway through the month and I love it. It is great makeup remover. I can use it all around my eyes with stinging them and it takes the makeup right off.

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette: I love these shades. I do wish that there was another medium tone shade instead of three lighter shades, one medium, and two dark. But I use this like crazy. Pretty much everyday this past month I have used at least one shade on my eyes from this palette. The medium shade is my absolute favorite though.

Two Faced Better Than Sex Mascara: My holy grail mascara. This makes my eyelashes look crazy. I love it so much. I received the full size as a Christmas present and I also have a couple of minis as back ups. I had a mini of this first that I pretty much refused to get rid of because it was wonderful. Eventually I did... darn mascara hygiene rules.

Anastasia Brow Wiz: After trying so many different drugstore options for my brows I caved and bought the Brow Wiz. So glad I finally did it. This one is actually empty and I have already ordered a new one. I am hooked.
Nest Eau De Parfum Trio (similar): Lastly but certainly not least is the Nest Trio that I received as a Christmas present. I am normally stuck with my 2 perfumes the Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline and the Coco Mademoiselle. This had gotten me to mix it up! I love these. I actually like all three scents. As of right now I can not even choose one out of the three.

I'd love to know what your January Favorites are and what you have planned for February. Please leave me a comment below and let me know.

New Year Haul

Over the past couple of days I have picked a few things up. First I went to Ulta looking for the new Real Techniques brushes. And I was lucky to find the two that I had been looking for. Then I went to CVS this afternoon and stumbled upon a few things that I have been wanting to try.

- Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain, I got the color Honey. I have heard so much about this color from Essie Button. I put it on as soon as I got in the car and I really liked the color. It really is the perfect your lips but better color.

- Milani's Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow, I got this in Bella Taupe. I'm excited to try this color. Taupe is missing from my eyeshadow collection.

- Maybelline Brow Drama, I picked this up in Deep Brown. After trying it for the past couple of days the brush is a little annoying. It should really be half the size it is. However, the product on the brush works pretty well. It has a nice tint to it and keeps my brows in place.

- Real Techniques Bold Metals brushes in 200 Oval Shadow and 201 Pointed Crease Brush, These brushes are beautiful. I wish the eyeshadow brushes were in the gold or rose gold. I have only used these both once. From that one try the 200 Oval Shadow brush did really well to help blend out my eyeshadow. Then the 201 Pointed Crease brush helped with doing my outer corner.

H&M Shoes

Very rarely do I get an email that makes me actually click to go to the website. Today though it happened. I received an email from H&M that said they were releasing more shoes online. Instantly I liked at least 4 of the pairs of shoes on the ad. I thought I would give them a browse and now I want them all. There is a bit of a pattern to the shoes I picked mostly boots. It is supposed to be getting really cold in Georgia this week. A little preparation never hurt anyone right?
 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8.

Beautiful shoes. I am especially in love with 7. I have wanted some harness cowboy boots for quite a while. And while these are ankle boots I think you still get the right feel. And now I actually can not find the link to these boots they must be sold out. My second favorite are 2. the two tone swede biker boots. To be honest I love all of these. Check out their site and let me know what your H&M favorites are right now. Does not have to be shoes!

Bar Cart Part 1

Hello! I am on a bit of a home DIY kick at the moment. I have so many projects that I want to do and need to finish. My most recent one is my metal cart that I got this week. Needless to say it has jumped ahead a few of my others...

Recently, I was perusing the Antique/furniture section on Craigslist which of course is what a normal 23 year old does on a Tuesday night. And I found a metal cart for sale on the other side of Atlanta. I have been wanting a metal cart to turn into a bar cart for quite a while. Ever since I saw this post on A Beautiful Mess on Elsie's Bar cart. On our thrifting/yard sale adventures I have been keeping one eye open for a cart and found nada. So when I found the cart on Craigslist I showed it to Steve and said when are we leaving.

We headed off to Clarkston, Ga and ended up meeting one of the sweetest ladies. She is retired and to make extra money she hunts down vintage/antique items at estate sales then resales them on Craigslist. I could have sat there and talked to her for hours she was great.

And here it is! Nothing to fancy but I have found quite a few on pinterest that seem to have used this exact same cart. 1.2.3.4.

I am a little unsure on whether or not I really want to paint it. I cleaned it today and then took a find sanding block to it. I was able to make the white legs pretty white with the sanding block they did look quite dingy. The yellow and white look really cute to me on the cart and I kind of want to just clear coat it. I like seeing the rougher spots and age on it. I think I am going to set it up with it how it is now and then decide if I want to paint it later.

We have been slowly collecting vintage bar items. I have a couple of shakers and glass decanters that have been sitting on my hutch that I can not wait to put onto the cart. Now we just have to figure out what we will put in the decanters.  There are a few things that we are missing. I have found two posts that are really helping me think about what I want on the cart one is by A Beautiful Mess (here) and the other on Mint Love Social Club (here). Looks like we definitely need a wooden muddler.

Let me know if you have seen a great cart redone! I would love to check out pictures. My twitter is @emilyvannah if you see one please tweet it to me!

Until next time,

Emily
