Hey! I hope everyone had a great Christmas and a great New Years Eve!
I am a believer in the old wives tale that whatever you do on New Years Day reflects what you will be doing for the next year. That means I did not clean today, I had that day off (thankfully), and I spent it with Steve. I do hope that the weather today is not a reflection on the weather for the rest of the year though. It was nasty weather in Georgia. It rained the entire day.
We did not let the weather deter our New Years outing. Steve and I are wanders. I am not sure where he gets it from but I definitely get it from my Grandparents. I spent weekends growing up with them driving all over the North Georgia mountains going to flea markets, garage sales, and antique stores.
So we decided that even though the weather was bad we were going to drive around where ever we want to. Go on a little mini road trip adventure. We ended up heading to North Georgia near Blue Ridge to the Toccoa River. I spent a lot of time in North Georgia when I went to Young Harris College, but I have never been to that rive. Also we are thinking about going canoe camping soon so checking it out sounded good. Well at first we were going to go to the swinging bridge and soon realized that since we would have to hike in this weather it would not work. After deciding that I pulled out my phone and just started looking for places where the road crosses the river.
We then ended up going down a long dirt road. There were gorgeous houses off that road. It was beautiful despite the rain. And at the end of the road we found this:
Wow! The new Maps app on the Iphone totally thought that this was still a road. Don't worry it was signed dead end really well. So we got out and I took a few pictures. I bet this is gorgeous on a none rainy day.
Then we realized that there were some no trespassing signs around and decided to leave.... I am so glad we found this neat bridge. It was a fun discovery.
After that we decided to head back home BUT I convinced Steve to stop at an antique mall that I had always wanted to stop in at. I did no purchase anything but for all of the Pyrex lovers out there I found a few things that I wanted to show.
I found this little casserole (Is that right?) I loved the lid. I am not sure what this pattern is called. The bottom dish was a similar color to the lighter leaf on the lid. It was $12. I think I probably should have bought it.
Then there was this set. I think the yellow is adorable. However, the booth owner wanted a lot of money for it.
I had a great day and I think that this was a great way to start off the new year. Also I did this post today so I am going to try to post more often!
Emily
